TUIs contribution to climate protection in Mallorca

One of the aims of TUI tour operator is to give something back to the locals of an area where many of their customers spend their holidays. As the tourism benefits primarily due to the biological diversity in different regions of the world, TUI wants to also make a contribution to the conservation of biodiversity in the resort areas and therefore supports collaborative projects with local partners. So they have also started a reforestation project on the beautiful island Majorca, where a lot of German and British people have their own Mallorca property. Here will be placed a total of 57,600 pine trees and wild olive trees in the nature park Llevant in Arta on a surface of 48 hectares. The forest that once stood on the hills near the coast burned down long time ago. TUI intends for every client who comes to Mallorca, to deposit 50 cents into the project. Furthermore, there is the option for those holiday-makers and also for the owners of a property in Mallorca to take part in the fundraiser for the forest. Each person who donates at least ten Euros, the cost of one tree, is mentioned by name on a plaque in the park as a sponsor. The total cost for this project is 663,000 Euros.
